These bowls have been wood fired in an ancient style of wood-burning kiln, called an Anagama kiln. The process takes up to four days and nights. The kiln becomes hot enough to form a glaze made up of the vapours of the other pieces in the kiln, any glazes used, and the particulate matter from the burning wood. These pieces have an energy all their own. |

Unglazed Fruit BowlThe kiln was allowed to "have it's way" completely with this bowl. The interior is a warm speckle thanks to the airborn ash in the kiln.
