Rather than burying the structural steel in a wall, it was decided to create a feature contemplation piece. We used blast rock to form the pond and planter, ceramic tile for the pond bottom, and hand sculpted the stalagmite inspired column. The water is pumped up the inside of the stalagmite and drips over the top reservoir and down the sides. The local water is very high in minerals, adding natural staining to the ceramic column.
